Lightroom User Group Featuring Special Guest Sean Teegarden

Hello Lightroom User Group members, it's been a long time!  This month we are very lucky to have special guest Sean Teegarden presenting.

Sean Teegarden is a Los Angeles based freelance photographer, specializing in portraiture, still life, and commercial advertising.  Sean also consults for Adobe Systems on digital imaging. His images have been highlighted for such prestigious competitions as the Adobe Design Achievement Awards, PDN’s Pix Digital Imaging Award and Apple’s Insomnia Photo Festival. Sean is deeply influenced by his roots as a native Angelino, his time in the scouting program, and his love of mid-century americana.

Sean will be presenting on:

Lightroom on Set - Creating a complete commercial workflow from shoot to archive.

Lightroom is an extremely flexible application that can conform to any user's needs. Shooting projects for editorial and advertising clients calls for a different set of software demands: different user selects/edits, instant monitoring, multi-platform output and delivery, all of which Lightroom can handle beautifully. Come experience an overview of Lightroom using project based catalogs, tethered shooting requirements, client delivery methods, and archiving for the post-production and portfolio conscience.

PLEASE NOTE: This month we will be back at our regular location at 601 Townsend.

As usual we will have pizza and socializing from 6:30 to 7:00.  Sean's presentation will start at 7:00 and run until 8:00.  We'll have about half an hour afterwards for questions.  Limited free parking is available in the Adobe garage.  Enter the garage off of King street.  Have security validate your parking before you leave.  Hope to see you all there!

The meet up was very good. Sean knew what he is talking about and shared lots of useful tips how to work with catalogs and how to organize your pictures using lightroom. Plus he gave quite few insights how to work on projects with clients. There was also free pizza, salad and drinks which is a super nice goodie. All in all the meet up was very good ornanized and I'm looking forward to the next one. Thanks, guys!

Did you find the recording from yesterday?

      January 31, 2014

Very good information on workflow. I was especially interested in learning how to move catalogs from one computer to another.

Interesting. Haven't installed LR5 yet, but liked the features he presented.

Thanks to Sean for the great presentation and thanks to Adobe for the very organized space an event.

I would like to thank Sean, Ben, Sharad and the rest of the Adobe Team for a well organized and informative evening. Enjoyed Sean's live studio tethering with Lightroom. His review of practical application of Lightroom 5 features, specifically cataloguing, and file management I found useful. These events I have mixed feelings about in that they make you realize how much you don't know. But on the other hand they motivate you to learn and try new things. For the latter it was worth my trip from Sacramento. Being new to this group, I do have a request. Were the past events video recorded, if so, are they available for review and where can one find them? Looking forward to the next event. If anyone is interested in carpooling please contact me and I'll plan accordingly.

Very good, but needed a little longer presentation to show complete work through. That which was covered was great.

Good for pros. Not so pertinent for amateurs

Sorry I can't make this one, I'm sure it will be great! I'll be at the reception for my show...and it's my birthday!

If anyone in SF who knows the basics and is open to sharing before the meetup, I'll buy the cappuchinos....your choice of location.

Hi Jack, if you're referring to the basics of Lightroom, you can watch a recording of a presentation I gave a while ago. This will tell you everything you need to get started with Lightroom. The presentation itself starts about four minutes in to the recording, and goes for about an hour. https://seminars.adobe...

      Great...thanks

FYI: I drove in last week Wednesday for the InDesign User Group meeting. I got there minutes after 6p. There were plenty of parking spaces (the meters are free after 6p) and plenty of back-in diagonal parking as well. I'm not sure if I was lucky or my timing was "spot-on." I'll try again for the Lightroom parking. It's cheaper for me to drive in and pay the bridge toll than to pay for BART roundtrip.

And I felt safe enough too, for those interested. That street was completely abandoned!

No long walk to BART. No slow Bus Ride. Just transfer to Muni at Embarcadero and get off at the SP terminal. A cake walk

    January 22, 2014

    • Michael

Assuming you mean the Caltrain station. "SP terminal" isn't on Muni's maps or announcements, and 99% of people will give you a blank stare if you ask for the "SP terminal." The walk is 3 long blocks down Townsend from 4th to 7th.

      Yes, Cal Train

I'm new to Lightroom. I hope its ok for an amateur to join you.

  • Keith D.

Greetings! I'm new to CA, so please forgive this question, but…is it easy to park nearby, or is there a BART (+ MUNI?) station in walking distance? And, I guess, is it safe to walk at night after the meeting?

    January 22, 2014

    • George P.

It's several long blocks to the nearest BART. Parking in the neighborhood usually lightens up considerably at the end of the work day, unless there's a big event at the nearby ballpark. There is a long stretch of back-in diagonal parking along Townsend Street just east of the Adobe Center. It's a well-lit area and not particularly dodgy. But if you do take BART, avoid 6th Street near Market.

      January 22, 2014

    • Sagar P.

You can take BART to the Civic Center station, exit at 8th Street and Market. From there just take the MUNI 19 bus to Townsend St and it's 1 block from there. After the event is over, you can catch the 19 bus on 7th and Townsend.

      January 22, 2014

  • Paul G.

BART plus Muni works well for me. Just take BART to the Embarcadero station. Transfer to Muni. Get off at the SP terminal. The walk after that is short.
