Raghavendra Nandagopal is a Big Data Solution Architect / Principal Engineer working for Cloud Platform Engineering team at Symantec. He has extensive experience working on big data technologies. At Symantec, he is part of the team that manages and processes petabytes of data on Hadoop, Storm and Kafka providing Batch & Real-time processing as a Service (BpaaS & SpaaS). He has contributed to Apache Storm on the security feature.
Karthik Karuppaiya
Karthik Karuppaiya is an Architect / Principal Engineer working for the Cloud Platform Engineering team at Symantec. He is a big data enthusiast, working on hadoop and big data related technologies since 2010. As part of the Cloud Platform Engineering group at Symantec, he is helping product teams in re-architecting/re-engineering the legacy systems to move to cloud. He currently focuses on the real time streaming platform that processes 10s of billions of events a day.

We will cover the use case of ingesting over 35 billion events a day through Kafka and analyzing them using Storm in real-time. We will share the specifics about how we solved some of the challenges we encountered running at this scale in production. We will talk about the tools we developed to monitor storm topology performance and share how we exploited JMX for anomaly detections.
