San Francisco Atheists July Meeting

This month we are pleased to welcome back Richard Carrier to present his talk Proving History: Bayes's Theorem and the Quest for the Historical Jesus

The Bay Area's own Dr. Richard Carrier will introduce his latest book, explaining what Bayes's Theorem is (in terms anyone can understand), why it's important to doing history, how it already underlies all sound historical methods (even when we don't know it), and how he is using it to fix the broken methods still used to study the historical Jesus.

Richard Carrier is the renowned author of Sense and Goodness without God and Proving History: Bayes's Theorem and the Quest for the Historical Jesus, as well as numerous other books, chapters, and articles. With a Ph.D. in ancient history from Columbia University, he now specializes in the modern philosophy of naturalism, the origins of Christianity, and the intellectual history of Greece and Rome.

Dr. Carrier's books will be available for sale.
