Again this year the local Atheist groups will form an Atheist Contingent in the Pride Parade. Last year we had 60 people, and it was lots of fun. There is something special about many people cheering as you march in the parade. Let's make it larger this year.
Remember that the arguments against LGBT rights are rooted in religion, just like the attacks on women's rights. Let's support our natural allies.
We will supply some signs. You can bring your own if you prefer. Free atheist teeshirts will be given away to many participants, based on when they arrive.
We need two official Contingent Monitors for every 25 people in our group. Contingent Monitor Trainings are MANDATORY for certification as a contingent monitor. And last year's training is not good for this year. Training sessions at several locations in the Bay Area.
Check here (http://sfpride.org/parade/contingent-monitors.html) for more info about meeting places for these training sessions, and please be sure to notify Larry (terrycts@comcast.net) if you intend to be a Contingent Monitor. Then please notify Larry again when you have completed your training.
The 1st hour of each training is contingent monitor training. Advance registration for Contingent Monitor Trainings is not required. Please arrive on-time to prevent being turned away from a full training class.
We are supposed to assemble on Beale, very close to Howard St., between Howard & Mission. Our contingent number is 180. If you don not see us, ask someone in charge where to find contingent 180. Assembly locations can be modified at the last moment, so knowing our contingent number is crucial.
The Parade says we should be ready to march by 11:00 AM.
