Pre-game Tailgating Party Anyone?

Relax, everyone, of course there’s a pre-game tailgating party! Here are the details. PLEASE READ THIS THOROUGHLY before texting/emailing me asking for info that I've most likely already covered below!

Feel free to pass this info on to any other Red Sox fans you know who’ll be coming to the game on July 3rd. Whether you got your game tickets with the group or got 'em on your own, all Red Sox fans are welcome to join the party. The more the merrier!

RSVPs: If you plan to join us for the tailgating party, please RSVP and put in the comments section what food/beverage item(s) you will bring to share.

TAILGATING TIME: we will be tailgating before the game from 4 – 6:30 pm. You can join us anytime until 6:30 pm, when we'll be packing it up so we can get into the park, hit the bathrooms and concessions, and get to our seats before first pitch at 7:05 pm.

Following the game, there’s a fireworks show. Feel free to return to the tailgate area afterwards; we’ll pull out any leftover food/drinks and hang out for a little while until the parking lot/traffic clears!

TAILGATING LOCATION: we will be setting up in our usual place: in Lot A, near Gate A, right behind the row of handicap parking spaces. Please review the Coliseum parking lot map (http://tinyurl.com/7eqtbu9) to make sure you come to the right place! Look for the car with the hot pink Christmas tree on top of it; that’ll be me!

If you’re driving and want to park next to/near us, you must enter the parking lot through the Main Entrance on 66th Ave. If you’re taking BART, come across the walkway from the station to the stadium, turn right, and walk down the ramp towards the front of the coliseum.

TAILGATING EQUIPMENT: we will have 2 tables, a few chairs, 2 little portable Hibachi gas grills, and a large cooler filled with ice and some beer, wine, soda and water. I will also bring the paper and plastic goods (plates, cups, napkins, knives, forks and spoons), a corkscrew and bottle opener, knife and cutting board, spatula, tongs, and a few trash bags.

TAILGATING FOOD & BEVERAGES: I will probably bring meatballs and rolls or some other hot (warm) thing. If you are joining us, please bring some food item/beverage to contribute to the party. Please do not come empty-handed or we may shame you publicly! (Maybe. Probably. It’ll depend on our mood…) If you bring stuff to grill, don’t forget the rolls and condiments!

ALCOHOL CONSUMPTION: open containers of alcohol, especially glass bottles, are technically not permitted in the Coliseum parking lot. Sometimes the Coliseum cops are lenient about this, sometimes not. To be on the safe side, if you bring any alcoholic beverages to consume, you should pour it into/drink it from a paper/plastic cup. I will have plenty of cups on hand!

GAME TICKETS: most of you who bought tickets from me and are sitting with the Meetup group in Sec 108 should already have your tickets in hand, since I mailed most of them out to you. I do still have tickets for the following people: Gregory M, Sasha R, Dib, Tamara, Amy, Dan A (2), Les (3) and Cerise. These folks will need to find me during the tailgating party to get their tickets!

WEATHER: I checked the extended forecast. Right now it looks like it’ll be in the 70s during the day, and in the low 50s at night. Oakland weather is unpredictable, so wear layers. We’ve been at the ballpark for night games in July when it has been seasonably warm, but also when it’s been windy and freaking cold!

TAKE CARE OF EACH OTHER & HAVE A GREAT TIME! This is a gathering to rally for the Red Sox, meet and catch up with our fellow Sox fanatics, and have an enjoyable evening at the ballpark. Please be safe, refrain from inciting the ire of the home team fans, and keep an eye out for your fellow Sox fans. If you drink too much, please don't drive, and if your friend(s) drink too much, please don't let them drive, either.
