Japanese Yakitori @ Halu in The Inner Richmond (S.F.)

  • February 13, 2013 · 6:30 PM

Have you been asking yourself, "as a fan of the Beatles and Japanese food, where can I go for an interesting meal?" Well, wonder no longer. Halu offers Japanese items such as ramen and yakitori (no sushi), in a setting surrounded by Beatle and other rock memorabilia.

Yakitori, in case you don't know, is a variety of items grilled on skewers. Mushrooms, okra, bacon-wrapped asparagus, various chicken parts, etc.

- Halu is very small, and doesn't take reservations. Be prepared for a possible wait.

- Bringing cash for payment is appreciated

- Waiting lists in this group are not automatic. When you become aware of an opening, go to the event page and manually change your RSVP to "yes".

-It's in San Francisco's Inner Richmond district, on 8th Avenue between Clement and Geary. If driving, you should be able to find street parking... eventually. Use 511.org to plan out a Muni trip.

A fun meal, a fun group, and so much yummy goodness. (Everything's better with bacon!) Thanks, Mike, for organizing this little food adventure, and thanks to Adam, for the dessert idea.

Thanks for coming, everyone! We had a fun group. No shortage of tasty treats, including rice balls, chicken & basil katsu, and grilled on skewers: ground chicken; beef tongue; chicken hearts, skin, liver; bacon-wrapped scallops; filet beef; and more. Oh, and the vegetarian items: bacon-wrapped asparagus and bacon-wrapped mochi. ;-) Special thanks to Adam for taking us to Genki afterwards for Japanese treats.

Anna, I'm sorry you couldn't stay. I want to tell you the food was lackluster, and the company was boring, but I'd be lying. :-)
