Please join us for another Bay Area LifeTech event! Instead of a sleek underground gathering, we'll be meeting at a space high in the sky on the 31st floor in downtown SF. The program will start at 6PM and we look forward to seeing you all at the event on 2/23!
The 4 awesome LifeTech innovators and fans that will be featured in 10-15 min talks include:
(1) Shuvo Roy, PhD, associate professor in the Department of Bioengineering and Therapeutic Sciences (BTS) and director of the UCSF Biomedical Microdevices Laboratory. Dr. Roy is a bioengineering scientist whose research is dedicated to the development of MEMS (microelectromechanical systems) technology for biomedical applications with an emphasis on implantable devices. A key emphasis of his lab is applying MEMS and nanotechnology to develop an implantable, self-monitoring, and self-regulating bioartificial kidney for end stage renal disease (ESRD) patients.
(2) Aaron Dence, Co-founder & CMO @ Shinobi Labs. Through our collective experience and research the Shinobi Labs team has found the biggest need is motivation not knowledge, analysis, or recommendation. Many other products available emphasize tracking, rewards, and prescription. With our first app, Mobile Adventure Walks, we focus on the key elements that truly impact sustainable motivation. Most importantly, we focus on fun. Aaron will talk you through the decision to orient around motivation & fun as a way to appeal to a larger audience.
(3) Shariann Tom, Co-Founder at An Unexpected Journey. Shariann Tom has gone through four bouts of cancer, but has now been free of the disease for five years. Her story is one of inspiration and reminds us all why we are involved in the LifeTech industry.
(4) Eric Pietras, Postdoctoral Scholar at Eli and Edythe Broad Center of Regeneration Medicine and Stem Cell Research at UCSF. Eric will enlighten the group on his work "Hematopoietic stem cells: a paradigm for cancer and regeneration medicine."

Hi Everyone-
Due to the unexpected heavy interest and increasing waitlist in the upcoming meetup on 2/23 (and to minimize the number of no-shows), we have decided to charge a nominal $10 fee to RSVP for the event (payable via Meetup/PayPal). If you have already RSVP'd and still wish to attend, unfortunately you will have to re-register for the event.
We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience and look forward to seeing you on 2/23!

Hi All-
Also, we are very excited to announce Eric Pietras, Postdoctoral Scholar at the UCSF Stem Cell Research center as our 4th speaker!!
Please keep in mind that food and drinks (wine, beer, sodas) will be served at the event and the afterparty will still be held 1 block away from the consulate at the OZ Lounge.
-Cheers, BALT
Hi Everyone- we are looking forward to seeing you all on Thursday and there are still a few spots left for the event. For those folks that are registered, the venue requires a first AND last name for all attendees prior to the event. So, please update your Meetup profile or email the information for you (and your +1's) directly to lightning.luke@gmail.com if that is preferable. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience.
Refunds are not offered for this Meetup.
