jQuery Mobile

Kin Bas from Adobe will speak on jQuery Mobile.  Kin has been a major contributor to the jQuery Mobile project.  This will be an overview of how to work with jQuery Mobile with some time for Q&A at the end.

jQuery mobile framework takes the "write less, do more" mantra to the next level: Instead of writing unique apps for each mobile device or OS, the jQuery mobile framework will allow you to design a single highly branded and customized web application that will work on all popular smartphone and tablet platforms

I am not a developer but as a designer, I would like to learn more about the nuts and bolts of jQuery so as to understand how it affects design.

Some nice demos at the start, and a good presentation overall. It started slow, but got going, and ended strong with code samples and how-to.

Only challenge was the speaker had a quiet voice, it was a little hard to hear if you were not right in the front, and you wanted to hear because the content was strong. Would love to get the slides! Idea: It might be nice to do one meetup of all demos and how-to - I could have listened to a lot more about the offline, HTML5 "Hacker News Reader" and learn more about what he did - I'd also love to get that slides and information. That was enjoyable.

I have started working on my project with jquery-mobile. In comparison to Sencha Touch, it is much easier to get things up and running since the HTML DOM and CSS styling are well understood and documented at this point. There is still much to optimize and clean up from the Alpha version, but from a programmer's point of view, it is a worthy successor of jqTouch. (somewhat ironic that Sencha Touch is more of the ExtJS lineage even though it is manned by David Kaneda)
