DESCRIPTION: Join your host Christian Bates, hostess Bethanne Wanamaker, and Bay Area mushroom and wild food expert Kevin Feinstein on a fascinating discovery of MUSHROOMS! Get to know the deeper world of the wild.
Kevin will present his crash course in local wild mushroom foraging -- what to look for, when, where, and how to identify local wild mushrooms -- it's a class for beginners or a refresher for the novice. He is a trusted expert with over 10 years experience and knows what is SAFE to eat, and what to leave in Nature.
We are hosting this adventure at a private and pristine 16-acre property, which means that during the peak of this year's late mushroom season when most areas are over picked (or illegal to forage or are polluted), we have full access to an "all-we-can-harvest" ---> first dibs! :)
Most wild mushroom classes are 'look only.' This is look, learn, pick & take home!
This is not to be missed! You've asked us to delve deeper even beyond harvesting living spring water and wild edible foods, and with Kevin's extensive knowledge, experience, and familiarity of the Bay Area Region, we cannot pass up this epic opportunity to share with you.
* A bag, or something to gather your mushrooms in to take home
* A water bottle full of pristine water to stay hydrated and energized
* Appropriate footwear for you to walk on moist grass and through the occasional forest thicket. The land is a mostly gentle slope, grass and forest.
* Energy in your belly (Eat something so you have plenty of energy to hike; we will provide superfood smoothies)
* Clothes that will keep you warm and dry (layers are best), gloves/mittens, rain jacket and hat.
* Wear pants and socks and wrap your socks around your pants to reduce the chance of acquiring ticks.
OPTIONAL: We (Christian & Bethanne) will be offering our mouth-watering low-glycemic superfood Mushroom Immunity smoothies for just $7! Please let us know when you RSVP if you'd like one so we know how much to bring. Smoothies will be served just prior to the hunt and you can pay cash at that time.
COST: $50 (plus, $7+ cash upon arrival if you'd like the spring water based low-glycemic superfood medicinal mushroom smoothie to fuel your afternoon hike)
Note: Refunds cannot be provided without 48 hours prior notice.
