Accessibility on the Yahoo! Homepage by Nicholas Zakas and Victor Tsaran

Accessibility isn't hard, and contrary to popular belief, doesn't take a lot of extra effort. Learn how the Yahoo! homepage team built accessibility into the product development cycle with the goal of providing the best possible user experience to everyone. Using a combination of progressive enhancement, ARIA, and a little ingenuity, even the most complex and dynamic features on the new Yahoo! homepage's are available to everyone in interesting and fun ways.

Making JavaScript Accessible by Dennis Lembree

Dennis Lembree, author of Web Axe and Accessible Twitter, explains some challenges and solutions for accessible JavaScript. Topics include progressive enhancement, ARIA, keyboard access, and appropriate usage. Several examples are discussed, including a few from Accessible Twitter.

It would be nice if socializing was somehow encouraged at this meetup. Maybe if the venue was a little smaller and we could find someone to sponsor some beer. It seems like everyone just went to their seats and waited patiently for the presentation rather than meeting all the other talented people in the room.

The Zakas presentation was insightful and opened my eyes to ARIA - I came away impressed. The second preenter had some good info but nothing I hadnt been reading about for a few years already. It lacked depth and did not live up to it's name.
