Hello everyone:
We're celebrating the Yahoo! Front End Summit 2011, which brings Yahoo! front end engineers from all around the world to Sunnyvale once a year, with a special two-night Bayjax event.
On March 29th, we'll welcome two well-known speakers from the front end community: Yahoo! JavaScript Architect Douglas Crockford and Google Web Performance Expert Steve Souders.
Schedule:
6:30pm-7:00pm: Networking, recruiting announcements, pizza.
7:00pm-8:00pm: Steve Souders - All those in favor of faster mobile...
" The secret is out - speed matters! Case studies from Google, Yahoo, Microsoft, Netflix, and others testify that making websites faster drives more traffic to your site, improves the user experience, increases revenue, and reduces operating costs. Best practices, tools, and web service companies abound for improving website performance on the desktop. But where are we when it comes to mobile performance? Join Steve Souders as he presents the latest developments for analyzing mobile performance."
8:00pm-9:00pm : Douglas Crockford - Level 7: The Fifth Edition
"Complete implementations of ES5 are now coming online. This is a survey of the new good parts."
Venue details: When: March 29th[masked]:30pm-9:00pm Where: Yahoo! HQ, Urls cafe 701 first ave, Sunnyvale, Ca

Good stuff, Steve needs to speak into the microphone. It was hard to hear because he kept talking side way.

I'm using the mobile bookmarklet that Steve Souders presented.
Crockford's the new parts will be useful when ES5 gains more traction.

Having heard Steve speak a few times, I felt his talk was a little bit of a review of what he normally evangelizes. I totally agree with him, but I found everything a little too familiar. Gotta love the snail on the iPhone though. Doug as always was full of knowledge. Who has time to keep up with what's new in ES5, especially when as he tells us, we can't use any of it until some browsers (IE) die. Overall, very good meeting. I was glad to see turnout was a lot better than the day before.

Fantastic, great speakers and great topics.

I loved the talks. Not enough pizza though. I was looking at my buddy Steve but restrained myself from eating him.

Great meetup, I'm looking forwarded to the next one. And I think we should make a t shirt that says "IE6 must Die" :)

Fantastic speakers and a great venue. Not only did I learn quite a bit from both Douglas and Steve, but their talks got me excited about javascript again. Well done!
March 30, 2011
Great talks by Steve and Douglas - as always. Will the presentations be online?
March 30, 2011
Thank you Steve and Douglas, it was enlightening!
@Oliver Tse, y stop there? go with "M$ must die!"
Last but not least, who offered 10K if they hire your referred UI Dev?
March 30, 2011
Mr. Crockford, we spoke briefly about you appearing at the Node.js Bay Area meetup - can you get a hold of me so that we can discuss this in detail? I am having trouble finding your contact information on the site.
March 29, 2011
Thank you Douglas & Steve - great presentations!
and yes (following the trends in the comments) HighGearMedia.com is also hiring great web developers... :)

March 29, 2011
@beau. I would go on my own, but it might be more fun to have someone to chat on the way down.

Roy, I think you can just show up. I don't think they turn anyone away unless you wear a t-shirt that says, "JavaScript sucks" or something.
March 28, 2011
I wonder if there will be video or slideshows coming after. I'm on waiting list and hope I can be there.
March 28, 2011
Wow. I had no idea that there were Crockford groupies. I thought only Nicholas Zakas had them.
March 28, 2011
I'm a Web Developer specializing in front-end. I'm going because I'm a huge, enormous, gigantic fan of Douglas Crockford !!
