What's new in FreeNAS 9.2.0 (and beyond)!

NOTE: LOCATION CHANGED[masked]-15. We're across the street in Building D, 1st Floor.

We welcome iXsystems back to BayLISA for our first meeting of 2014. John Hixson, Senior Software Engineer and resident BSD Geek, will be talking FreeNAS developments in light of the recent release of FreeNAS 9.2. He may also be coerced into talking about the MEGACORE project for the FreeBSD foundation (hardware geeks take notice!).

From John:

This presentation will be a review of what is new in FreeNAS 9.2.0. Various parts of the system will be reviewed and demonstrated. Current development will also be discussed. Anything else regarding FreeNAS that is brought up can also be covered.

John Hixson, Senior Software Engineer at iXsystems, is a BSD geek that resides in California. He has been using open source software and operating systems since the middle 90's. He has worked as both an engineer and systems administrator during the course of his technical career. His employment with iXsystems keeps him busy with FreeBSD, PC-BSD and FreeNAS. John enjoys working on anything that is challenging and requires learning new things. In his spare time, he likes to read, cook, spend time with his family and play with new geek toys.

Please RSVP here so we can plan the space accordingly.

Our meetings are scheduled for 7:30pm on the third Thursday of each month, at Yahoo in Sunnyvale (near Moffett Field, Juniper, Weird Stuff, and the Sunnyvale water plant/landfill).

BayLISA includes system and network administrators across a range of skill levels. BayLISA meets to discuss topics of interest to system administrators and managers. The meetings are free and open to the public.

We always welcome presentation topics and volunteer speakers. Use the "Contact us" link on this page to get in touch with BayLISA's directors.
