SysAdmin 3.0: The Infrastructure Engineer -- Mark Burgess of CFEngine

Details

BayLISA welcomes Mark Burgess, founder of CFEngine.com, for our January 2012 meeting. On the tail of his presentation at LISA '11 in Boston in December, Dr Burgess will be giving us an update on the state of IT automation and CFEngine in particular. More details to come.

Mark Burgess is the creator and main technical architect of the popular CFEngine open source IT automation software. He was the first person internationally to hold the title of 'Professor of Network and System Administration', at Oslo University College. He now leads the research and development of the CFEngine software full time.

We also thank CFEngine.com for sponsoring the January 2012 meeting and supporting BayLISA's operation. http://photos4.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/e/9/4/0/event_65339712.jpeg (http://www.cfengine.com/)

BayLISA is the premiere system administration organization for Silicon Valley and the entire San Francisco Bay Area. For over two decades we have served the sysadmin community with education and networking opportunities around current and rising topics in systems, networks, software, and the profession of system administration.

In 2011 we presented talks and demos on next-generation networking, release engineering, package management, dynamic tracing, FreeNAS and PC-BSD, security, post-cloud system administration, high volume email architecture, and open source storage and computing platforms.

We welcome suggestions from the community on topics, speakers, sponsors, and venues for 2012's meetings. Contact us through Meetup or send an email to blw@baylisa.org --

BayLISA meets on the third Thursday of each month, at 7:30pm Pacific time. We thank LinkedIn for providing our current meeting location. Point your map tool at 2051 Stierlin Ct, Mountain View, CA 94043.

Your RSVP here on Meetup helps us plan for space and refreshments. We'll always try to accommodate last minute guests, but if you can, please do RSVP (and update if you find you won't be able to attend) to help us best serve all of our guests.
