Native iOS and Android apps with .NET

  • Aug 15, 2012 · 6:30 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

A live introduction to writing apps for iOS and Android using .NET and the Xamarin tools. A simple location-aware app will be written and presented to demonstrate how the same code can be used on multiple platforms while still maintaining platform-specific and tuned platform-dependent user interfaces. The joys of .NET and the challenges of mobile development will be expressed throughout.

The Speaker

Frank Krueger has been a professional software developer for more than 15 years. He has worked in embedded systems at General Motors, done network programming for telecoms, worked on user interface libraries and parallel computing techniques at Microsoft, and did his time developing web sites and web applications. He has spent the last amazing 4 years developing iOS apps, and the last 3 developing them using Xamarin tools. Frank is passionate about user interfaces, programming languages, and computing in general.

I had expected a technical meeting on exactly as the title offers. Instead I got a run through of a proprietary thousand dollar product that a small developer will never be able to afford to use. It was basically an ad for pizza. Not good use of time. :(

Will this presentation be recorded and available on the web anywhere?

    August 14, 2012

    • Mathias B.

It looks like the presenters are going to record it, so there is a good chance this will be available afterwards. If this is the case, I'll post a link after the event!

Awesome. I live in Alabama, but I saw the topic and it is right up my alley. Have a great meeting.
