Clojurescript: default awesome
Details
Description
Wikipedia tells us:
Amongst the set of options that agents choose from, the default option is the option the chooser will obtain if she does nothing ... Experiments and observational studies show that making an option a default increases the likelihood that it is chosen; this is called the default effect.
Providing good defaults should be aim of any environment that wishes to enhance human happiness. Or at least those of the simple web programmer.
The aim of the presentation is clear: show how the defaults from ClojureScript provide an inherently safer and more straightforward environment to develop applications for the web.
In the the presentation I will highlight a variety of defaults for ClojureScript and compare them with those available to JavaScript.
I will show how the defaults in ClojureScript are coming as features in future editions of JS or are available as libraries for ES5.
But most importantly in this context: features, libraries and options do not a default make!
Changing defaults does mean moving from a JS syntax to a LISP syntax. The defaults for each syntax will also be compared.
Some example CLJS applications will be presented to demonstrate that migrating towards CLJS can be achieved incrementally.
