http://photos3.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/6/8/d/0/event_231686832.jpeg Kayak diving adds additional range to the beach diver by providing personal transportation to dive sites further offshore and then acting as a stable safety platform while the diver explores below. Kayaks are fun and affordable. There are some tricks to using them effectively for scuba, so we will have a clinic to learn and practice those techniques. Following the clinic, we'll conduct an offshore visit to Barracuda Reef off Dania Beach. Divers pay charter services $65 per trip to visit that reef; we'll get there for the cost of parking and a few paddle strokes.

Our training site will be Whiskey Creek and we'll use the picnic area at the north end of the Dania Beach parking lot. (If you arrive on time, there is plenty of parking available for $1.50 per hour using the MasterMeters.) Kayak owners will need all their gear including paddles, paddle lanyards, personal flotation gear, tethers for securing BCD to the boat, and a dive flag. Those without kayaks but wishing to try it during the clinic should have their personal dive gear with them.

This clinic is always a lot of fun and very informative. If you have been thinking about using a kayak for scuba, or you are considering buying a kayak for that purpose, you won't want to miss this class. The dive following the clinic will depend on surf conditions.
