Why do you want to become a farmer?

I'm really concerned that I have better food on the table for my family and my friends. It's becoming more important daily to know where our food comes from, how its produced, and above all what’s in it, and if you produce it yourself, those questions are answered! The farming and ranching lifestyle is ingrained in our country's lifestyle. We need to encourage it, protect it and give it strength by buying local and supporting our local producers. It's important to know who produces your food. And give them th support they need to produce good wholesome food for everyones table. I want to give it a try again and help others do it too. Either in the back yard, the flower bed or the back forty, sow some seeds, raise some chickens, plant some fruit trees. Have fun, get dirty, and relax!

Have you done any farming before? even in your backyard

Im up to 15 chickens now

What type of farming are you interested in? (vegetable, fruit, poultry, dairy e.t.c)

Im currently doing eggs. Thinking about some fruit trees and maybe some Aquaponics.

What do you hope to get from this group?

More knowledge of farming, agriculture and above all more friends!

It's springtime in Sedalia. Chickens getting on track making organic eggs. Having fun helping others while learning more myself as a member of Douglas County Farm Bureau and agent with Colorado Farm Bureau Insurance.
