3-27 On and Off-Camera Flash

We have moved to another room, and now can handle more people.  One of the great tools of a photographer is the off camera flash, but they are so often misused that people tend to shy away from them. Let's investigate how to use the units properly, and all of the accessories which help make these units productive.

Overpower the bright sun and shoot people at high noon, combine with slow sync to shoot night shots, etc. In this class we will explain the many options with off camera flash units, often called Speedlights, and the various ways they can be used to take outstanding shots.

Then, I'll show you how to set up a low-cost studio in your home. With this setup, you can take professional quality images without the high cost of studio strobes ($800-$2000 each)

Each class includes complete written notes.

I always enjoy these classes, and I'm glad when Jim doesn't make me feel stupid because I'm inexperienced. Keep up the good work and hope to be back soon.

I do photography at a dirt race track at night. I have a Nikon D5000, and do not have a detachable flash as of right now. I don't know how to choose one, nor what settings to use on the camera. Would this class benefit me?

Would you have suggestions for a Nikon camera, or are you a Cannon shooter?

I thought I answered this, but I don't see it. I am a Canon shooter, but would suggest you go down to Midwest Photo in Clintonville, the only true camera store left in the area. They have great people there who will walk you through the differences in Nikon cameras, and help you make a decision. That's what you don't get on-line, and it is worth the money to always have these folks in your corner.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
