4-12 Jim Brown Led Field Trip to Inniswood Gardens

It is time to take what you have learned in the classroom, and put it to use on location. Inniswood Gardens is part of the Columbus Metro Park system and is a beautiful grounds with many interesting hardscape structures that are beautifully landscaped. With this past winter being what it was - the flowers may be a bit late in coming out, but we will not let that stop us.

Two requirements for the field trip: first is that you understand how to control the settings on your camera for ISO, shutter speed, and the aperture (f stop) in order for YOU to be in control in setting the exposure and not relying on the camera to do that. These are all areas that have been covered in the class room. Secondly - bring your camera manual as I am not well versed in all the brands and models of cameras on the market now. Feel free to bring a tripod, and a flash if you like - but they are not a requirement. This will be weather permitting, so be sure to watch the forecast and the Meetup group for last minute announcements. We will meet under the trellis at the entrance to the grounds.

In case you can not make this field trip, I am planning one or two a month at various locations, days and times from April - October. These sessions will be limited to 12 people, and will be a good chance for you to practice what you have learned.

You can check out images from this shoot last year (April 12, 2013) on the Meetup Learn Photography site. Also check out the link to Inniswood Gradens: http://www.inniswood.org.

Good group yesterday at Inniswood Gardens on a perfect morning. Thanks to everyone who made it. We will be planning a return trip there later this summer as the plant and flowers are a few weeks behind due to this past winter. Nice meeting each of you and I am looking forward to seeing a few of your images posted here. Thanks for a good morning. Jim

Morning everyone.....the forecast for Saturday is looking really good. We will plan on meeting at the entrance to the grounds at, right by the parking lot. I will be there @ 8:45am. Remember to bring you camera manual - that way we can solve any exposure issues you may have with those settings: ISO, shutter speed and aperture (f stop). Flash and tripods are welcome - but not necessary.

See you all on Saturday morning. Thanks.

Are you planning any more classroom sessions for rank beginners?

Kirk - Jim Mitchell has been teaching the classroom sessions and will have more in the future. If you have not attended one of those - don't let that stop you from coming on Saturday. I will offer assistance if you need it. Jim.

Jim Brown is a professional photographer who has led several field trips for us last year. As an instructor he is excellent, and his knowledge "of that which grows." It is a great opportunity to learn, and to capture some great images.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
