For our first meet-up we'll take an introductory look at Riak and then we'll have talks from two Berlin companies using Riak!

• Wooga: Guillermo Alvarez, Engineer at Wooga, will take us through Wooga's data model, infrastructure and data challenges, and then speak about how Wooga uses Riak and what lessons they've learned.

• eBay Kleinanzeigen: Olaf Zschiedrich (CTO) and Matthias Huttar (Software Developer, eBay Kleinanzeigen) will speak about how Riak has helped them grow and the mistakes they've made along the way.

Wooga are supplying the beer and Basho will supply pizza! Afterwards, we'll find a bar where we can continue the conversation and share a drink or two.

Wooga's talk in more detail:

Guillermo's talk will cover:

• Wooga's data model.

• Their infrastructure.

• Current usage pattern.

• Lessons learned.

• Riak pros/cons.

eBay Kleinanzeigen's tlak in more detail:

"At eBay Kleinanzeigen we're using Riak as a backend for our buyer/seller communication service to enable secure and anonymous messaging across e-mail and apps. We deliver 700-800k messages every day and store all information in our 18 Node/20 TB Riak Cluster spanning across two datacenters. Join us on a little tour through NoSQL land to see the how we scaled out using riak (and screwed up on the way)."
