Liquid Motion

UPDATE:  These are actual photos that we took using the techniques we will be sharing with you.  Warren and I have spend many hours on honing our techniques to get the best possible results.  Warren is actually bringing a Laser Trigger System for you to try out.  For example, the top 2 images were shot out doors in bright sun light without flash.  This is going to be a GREAT WORKSHOP!  Don't spend hours trying to figure it out on your own, let us share with you what we have learned through trial and error.  Bring a remote trigger cable to 1/8 stereo plug so that you can connect your camera to our Laser Trigger.  We will also have a few available for you to borrow if they match your camera.

This Liquid Motion workshop will provide an exceptional opportunity to photograph objects and liquids that are colorful and fast-moving. During this workshop, you will learn how to capture action using a combination of camera shutter speed and continuous and stroboscopic lighting. This will be a truly fun and educational photo workshop.

At Avanza training center we have put together several work-stations for attendees to use and enjoy. The classroom portion of this workshop will start out with examples of what mood and photo opportunity each work-station will provide. After the explanation, demonstration phase, which will last approximately one hour, participants will be able to use work-stations to create their own unique photographic works of art.

Bring your digital camera, tripod, speed-light, and lenses. You will be shooting subjects from as close as a few inches to as far as several feet away. Lenses from 15 to 100mm in focal length should be more than adequate. Continuous lighting and stroboscopic lighting will be available; however, you may choose to bring your own speed-light that your camera brand is compatible with.

We will have two maybe three 10 gallon aquariums setup for you to practice on.  You can choose between flash, high intensity lights or sunlight.

This image with the strawberry was taken using continues lighting and without the use of flash.  The cost of the  lights are less then $15 ea.

Here are a few of the items you will get to experiment with:

Short and Long exposures, flash and natural sunlight

Fruit, Dice or whatever we can find interesting dropped into an aquarium.

Various Viscosities, vegetable oil and glycerin.

Water droplets.

Milk with or without coloring as it splashes.

Water balloons as they burst.

Various Gels, backdrops and targets.

What you need to bring with you:

Camera

Tripod

Remote but not Required

External Flash but not Required

Snacks or Lunch, we have a fridge, microwave, snack machine, coffee and tea

Cloths you don't mind getting wet or messy in

Your imagination

Their will be a $15 charge to help cover the cost of facility and materials used in this workshop.

The Saturday photo class and workshop was amazing!  I never took a photo - too impressed with what I did not expect.

Years ago I submitted a proposal to the City of Phoenix for a public art project.  They rejected it saying they did not believe I had the experience to implement my proposal.   They were correct although not exactly.  I had not found the technology and money to implement my concepts.  Saturday I was handed knowledge of the technology available today and today's low cost to start working again !!!
