[6:40pm] The Future of Data: Doug Cutting, The Founder of Hadoop, Chief Architect of Cloudera

In recent years a wide range of new technologies have disrupted traditional data management. We're now in the middle of a revolution in data processing methods. Choosing allegiances in revolution is risky. In this talk, Doug will present the underlying causes of the revolution and predict how the data world might look once we're through it.

Doug Cutting serves as Chief Architect of Cloudera, Inc. He is the founder of numerous successful open source projects, including Lucene, Nutch, Avro, and Hadoop. Doug joined Cloudera in 2009 from Yahoo!, where he was a key member of the team that built and deployed a production Hadoop storage and analysis cluster for mission-critical business analytics. Doug holds a Bachelor’s degree from Stanford University and sits on the Board of the Apache Software Foundation.

[7:30pm] Scaling Hadoop: Quinton Anderson, Development Manager, CBA

This talk will focus on the skills, organisational, cultural and technical aspects of building out a Hadoop platform within an organisation. These are the really complex issues facing the Hadoop community because they need to be well understood and in many cases corrected before wide spread adoption will take place, especially in a corporate world where "IT doesn't matter".

Quinton Anderson is currently the development manager with technical responsibility for the big data and data science platform at one of the world's largest banking groups. He has a background is systems engineering contributes widely to various open source initiatives. He has also published a cookbook on Twitter Storm with a focus on Lambda Architecture and Continuous delivery of Realtime big data solutions.
