Backup and Disaster Recovery in Hadoop

Backup and Disaster Recovery in Hadoop

Details

The bigger your data, the bigger the problem if it is somehow lost. Hadoop, by default, helps with data redundancy/HA. In this presentation, Rakesh, as an expert in IBM BigInsights (IBM's Hadoop Distribution), will provide a perspective on the importance of understanding where open source and IBM tools/features store their data in the cluster, what are the prominent big data solutions for backup and DR, the major components in BigInsights that need to be backed up and why, and some specifics on implementing backup/DR solutions within BigInsights.

About the Presenter: Rakish Naik is currently a Big Data Technical Solution Specialist with IBM Americas. Rakesh has worked more than 20 years in IT in various roles, including a 4gl/C/Web developer, Informix DBA, System Admin, Advanced Support Engineer (Informix/DB2), and Technical Account Manager (Informix/DB2/Netezza). More recently, Rakesh worked as a Partner Enablement Specialist, where I developed and delivered Big Data (BigInsights/Streams/Watson Explorer/IPDA) bootcamps to IBM partners around the world, including assistance with system review, porting, and implementation activities.
