Data Gymnastics: Using HPCC Systems for Processing Big Data

Details

Join us in DC for a Meetup! All DC area meetup groups in the Big Data and Data Science space are welcome to attend!

Networking/Food/Drinks/Raffle Prizes! Plus, all attendees will receive free access to our online HPCC Systems training courses.

Agenda:

6:30 - 7:00pm: Welcome and Networking

7:00 - 8:00pm: Presentation and Q&A

8:00 - 8:30pm: Open Discussion & Mingle

Topic:
The open source HPCC Systems (https://hpccsystems.com/) platform has a number of unique features that help take the headache out of working with big data. This session will walk through the technical components of HPCC Systems and how to use it, similarities and differences from other big data processing platforms, how its declarative programming language (ECL) works, and the ways in which it can integrate with external C++, Java, other common languages and Web Services code. It will include a beginning-to-end walk through of loading data, ETL-ing and profiling it, indexing it, and accessing the final result from a web-based front end, essentially an EDA toolkit for data scientists. Attendees will leave with an understanding on how fun and flexible data calisthenics can be! (https://hpccsystems.com/)

About the Speaker:
Drea Leed is a Senior Software Developer for LexisNexis Risk Solutions, responsible for developing tools, applications and processes for end-to-end handling of big data. She has over a decade of experience designing and implementing data warehouses, enterprise web applications, back-end and B2B integration systems, data visualization front-ends, and a variety of other systems that store and use big data.

Special thanks to George Washington University for the space!

Parking Information:

The best places to park are the G Street garage or the Science and Engineering building -- both are right across the street from the School of Business. There is also metered street parking that is typically available after 6:00 p.m.
