Title: Big Process and Big Data analytics for financial services regulations
Speaker: Shyam Sundar Sarkar, CEO, RiskCompute
(Similar topic presented at Hadoop Summit, 2012)
Abstract: Big process, process mining and process discovery will drive future big data activities. This requires robust modeling for processes and statistical techniques for discovery. This talk will focus on latest financial services
regulations. Despite the slow pace of finalizing rules, central clearing is coming to the $600-trillion OTC derivatives market in 2012. This enormous universe of trades will be forced into a clearinghouse. As the 2008 credit crisis indicated, the primary benefit of central clearing is to reduce counterparty risk and provide transparency into the exposures of dealers, customers, member firms and even regulators. The Dodd-Frank Act requires that standardized contracts are traded through exchanges or swap execution facilities (SEFs) and cleared through central counterparties (CCPs) to prevent systemic risk. New regulations focused on risk management and
transparency need to manage big process with big data. Big Process and Big Data Analytics with Hadoop, HBase, Hive along with BI tools will be needed for real-time reporting.
Speaker Bio: Shyam Sundar Sarkar is an entrepreneur and software researcher for over 25 years. He was a serial entrepreneur and co-founder of multiple startup companies in the past. He has several patents and publications. He
writes blogs in social networking sites and made valuable suggestions to influence healthcare law and financial regulations. He is currently CEO of a startup company (RiskCompute) working on Dodd-Frank financial regulations and Big Data Analytics.

Title: Big Data Management Issues
Speaker: Erik Ottem, Senior Industry Expert and Blogger, Big Data Perspectives, Bigdataperspectives.wordpress.com
Abstract: Big Data is growing so fast, management can be a problem. In this session we'll look at two approaches to Big Data management: Services Management with the example of Cloudera and Device Management with the example of Amazon.
We'll take a look at the current state of the art, and speculate on where the future may lead for Big Data Management.
Speaker Bio: Erik Ottem has a long tech career with companies such IBM, Seagate Technology, Gadzoox Networks, Agilent and his own consulting company. His focus on data storage indicated that something was up as Big Data started exploding a couple of years ago. His investigations led him to start a blog: Big Data Perspectives. In his blog he shares his observations of this rapidly growing area. Erik also owns and operates Silicon Valley Business Group, Inc. which sells
high tech and other businesses in the area. Erik holds a BS degree in Plant Science from the University of California, Davis, and a MBA from Washington University in St. Louis.
