Molecular Biology of the Cell - Study Group

Don’t remember much from high school biology? What you do remember seem light-years behind where biology is today? Wondering what is going on in all those tubes of clear liquid people use in experiments?

Join us as we go through Albert’s Molecular Biology of the Cell textbook.

Once a week for 25 weeks will read a chapter and meet to discuss it for an hour. By the end, you should have a firm grasp on the vocabulary and concepts of modern molecular biology. With this foundation, you’ll be able to follow lab-based classes easier and start coming up with ideas of your own! Class is open to all those who are in or have had high school biology.

Required Text: You will need to get a copy of Albert's Molecular Biology of the Cell (Used 4th Editions are reasonably priced on Amazon).

Cost is $5 per class for members ($10 for non-members). Limit 10.

    is a great talk by Venki Ramakrishnan , the title is "What We Have Learned from Structures of the Ribosome". covers this section in alberts, also includes some history + the problems with figuring out structure and function (for which he shared the nobel prize in chemistry in 2009).
