Color Light and Vision
Many of us take vision for granted without really wondering what permits us to actually see. How does light really interact with the objects in everyday life and show the many varied shades of color?

Color and light are not the starting points, however. The first concept is to look at waves; waves have high and low points, and the distance between one high point or low point and the next is the wavelength. The wavelength determines how much energy is in the wave. Long waves have low amounts of energy and low frequency, and short waves have high amounts of energy and high frequency. When a rainbow appears, it is in the wavelengths of visible colors; sunlight consists of many wavelengths of light, and each different color is recognized by its own wavelength, but only a few of them are detectable by human vision.
