Business of Biotech: 2013 Patent Update with Vickie Brewster, Ph.D., J.D.

  • BioCurious Inc

3060 Coronado Dr. Santa Clara CA, Santa Clara, CA (map)

  • I am pleased to welcome Vickie Brewster back to BioCurious for another sessions on important updates in the world of patents. If you've attended Vickie's previous workshops, you know there are some changes in patent law that will occur when the America Invents Act is fully implemented on March 16, 2013. If you're an entrepreneur, have an idea or three you'd like to protect, or want to make sure your idea/invention stays in the public domain vs. being patented by someone else, you won't want to miss this!

Vickie Brewster is a solo practitioner (www.ipbrew.com) in Palo Alto and was formerly Sr. Patent Counsel at Genentech. Vickie has over 15 years experience drafting, prosecuting and defending biotech patents both at law firms and in-house. Vickie has developed processes in-house to manage IP identification and development, as well as employee training. Vickie has extensive knowledge of foreign prosecution and invalidation procedures. Vickie is a regular speaker at various conferences on patent law, foreign prosecution and biotechnology. Vickie has a Ph.D. in Physiology and Pharmacology from UCSD and a J.D. from Boston University.

This workshop is $10 for active BioCurious members, $20 for everyone else.
