Board & Card Games Marathon @ West LA -- May 26

  • May 26, 2012 · 12:00 PM
  • St. Bede's Church

Everyone is welcome to join us for board games and card games!  This is an all-day event, so feel free to come for a quick game or two, or stay for the long haul.

If the only games you know are Monopoly and Scrabble, prepare to have your horizons widened! Build ancient empires, escape from a pirate fortress, spell words to steal letters, collect chameleons, race robots, battle zombies, connect railroads, and more!  Board games have evolved in the last fifteen or so years, and we'll have TONS to choose from (well, it feels like tons when we're unloading the car!).  You're also welcome to bring your own games to share.

We'll have game captains on hand to introduce members and explain rules, so don't worry if you haven't heard any of these games.  Part of the fun is learning!

This event is great for newcomers and veterans alike. Meet some new friends, bring a friend or three if you like, and get ready to have some fun!

The event starts at NOON and goes til 9 PM. There will be a prize drawing at 5 PM and we'll round out the evening with a large game of Werewolf.

$10 adults, $5 for kids 12 and under.

There are plenty of places to grab food nearby. People tend to get dinner between 5 and 6 (after the prizes and before Werewolf).  We'll have some snacks for sale.

Hope you can join us!

I enjoyed learning some new games and playing some I already knew, as well as teaching a game or two that I brought. A very welcoming group. I even won a board game through the raffle! Thanks for hosting!!

Attending large groups of people where you do not not anyone can be overwhelming, but I felt at ease with this group. It helps that the event is held at a church, but more importantly, was the invitingness of the people. I will definitely be attending again. Thank you for getting me out of the house on a Saturday evening.

The cross street is "Charnock Road". This is up the hill (North) from Venice Blvd ... and a block South of Palm Blvd.

PS Grand View isn't far from Centinela. (There's another Grand View much farther from Centinela. I made the mistake of taking that once and getting lost.)

I don't remember the name of the cross street but it's a couple of blocks north of Venice. Coming from L.A., if you take Venice to Grand View and turn right you'll be there before you know it. Coming from the Beach, turn left on Grand View from Venice.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
