International Games Day is an initiative run by volunteers from around the world to reconnect communities through their libraries around the educational, recreational, and social value of games. It is held in more than 2,000 libraries all around the world, from Mongolia to Iceland. This year will be the first time the event is held in Singapore.
The goal of IGD is to encourages patrons to interact with a diverse group of peers, share their expertise with others (including adults), and develop new strategies for gaming and learning. Plus, it's a way for traditionally underserved groups to have fun in the library and interact with other members of the community
For the event, we'll be focusing on board games and role-playing games, with a focus on games inspired by books. There will be opportunities to learn modern board games such as the award-winning Three Kingdoms: Redux, Harry Potter: Hogwarts Battle, The Resistance: Avalon, Pandemic: Cthulhu and many others! If you're a beginner, there'll be game hosts teaching you how to play and learn about modern board games. If you're an expert, there's plenty of tables for you to setup and play games of your choice.
The event is free. So join us on November 19 on the third floor of Toa Payoh Public Library and explore the world of modern board games.
