Monthly Meetup: Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff, Christ's Childhood Pal

  • May 22, 2012 · 7:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

Author: Christopher Moore

The birth of Jesus has been well chronicled, as have his glorious teachings, acts, and divine sacrifice after his thirtieth birthday. But no one knows about the early life of the Son of God, the missing years -- except Biff, the Messiah's best bud, who has been resurrected to tell the story in the divinely hilarious yet heartfelt work "reminiscent of Vonnegut and Douglas Adams" (Philadelphia Inquirer).

Verily, the story Biff has to tell is a miraculous one, filled with remarkable journeys, magic, healings, kung fu, corpse reanimations, demons, and hot babes. Even the considerable wiles and devotion of the Savior's pal may not be enough to divert Joshua from his tragic destiny. But there's no one who loves Josh more -- except maybe "Maggie," Mary of Magdala -- and Biff isn't about to let his extraordinary pal suffer and ascend without a fight.

How to find us:

Parking: Any uncovered spot in the complex or park on Black Diamond Dr. across the way. It's not too far of a walk.

Pool Area: The pool area is at the center of the property right behind the office. There are three main gates to get into it (all locked of course) but I'll be out there so just holler.

Chairs: There are limited chaise lounges and patio chairs so if you have a camping chair please bring it!

Snacks/Drinks: Whatever munchies or drink you want to bring. There's no glass allowed so bring plastic if you can. If not, we're all adults. I think we can handle a wine bottle or two.

Swimsuits: If you want to get in the spa or pool swimsuits are required. Please note the spa is usually really hot.

If you have any problems give me a call or text! (702)[masked]

As my first meetup in this group I thoroughly enjoyed the conversation and was happy to meet Melissa and the three other bookies who showed up. I was a little disappointed with the low turnout, especially for such a great and thought provoking book, but that there were only five of us did make for a nice intimate discussion.

Yes! Bring a chair, the chaise lounges and patio chairs are limited, and bring munchies for all to share, and if you bring a beverage try to have it in plastic. There's no glass allowed in the pool area. I'll post directions and parking instructions tomorrow (when I have my computer!).

That sounds fine. Do you want us to bring something?

Hi all! I want to hold it at my apartment complex pool area. What do you think? The weather has been so great I want to be outside!

I changed the date and pushed it back by a week. :-)

I wouldn't mind if it was on a different date so that you could be the one to lead it. And thanks for opening up to the wait list, I'll get the book now then. Looking forward to it.

Hi everyone, I actually have a conflict for this Monday date. I would still love to lead a meetup for this book and am considering moving the date to a Tuesday or Wednesday, or even creating a secondary meetup for this book. Would someone be willing to lead this Monday one or should I change the date? Comments? Thoughts? Ideas?

I probably will open it to those on the waiting list. I limited the amount of people again because I was tired of making reservations for 15 or 20 and having 8 people show up. I haven't decided on a location yet, but I will soon (today). If you want to open up another meetup for this book you can "Suggest a Meetup". I think the rules for that are three people need to RSVP for it to be an "actual" meetup, but the suggestion will show on the main page for everyone to see.

Depending on the location, will you be opening this meeting to more than 10?
