Jim Preston (http://jimpreston.me/) has been bootstrapping his SV Startup Lab (http://www.svstartuplab.com/) since 2012, engineering 10 projects from 22 concepts to platform design, with one in active development and market testing. Product development primarily for Blue Ocean business opportunities that disrupt one or more industries.

He is inspired by "Medici Effect (http://www.amazon.com/The-Medici-Effect-Elephants-Innovation/dp/1422102823)" by Frans Johansson (http://www.themedicigroup.com/) (in particular the insight that innovation is most likely to occur at the intersection of multiple fields or areas of interest). Jim will share some lessons learned and some rules of thumb he uses for his bootstrapped operation in Silicon Valley, hiring freelance contractors as needed.
