The goal of this group is to bring together entrepreneurs, investors, customers and software developers to discuss how to apply bootstrap and agile techniques when starting new ventures, or software projects within established organisations. Content will be management-level presentations about bootstrapping software projects. The group will meet four times per year, or more if it generates sufficient interest.


Established companies - Bootstrapping happens when a company develops with little or no outside funding or customer commitment. The company normally funds its development through internal cash flow. Bootstrapping a software project requires special considerations, especially when the product isn't completely defined. Companies right now are looking for models giving them greater efficiency and better ways to save money when starting new projects and developments.

Startups - When you're backed in a corner, you will innovate and create something that you didn't have before. In the bootstrapping approach, the business model emerges at the end, after a product has been developed and evaluated by customers.

Investors - investors are interested in good business ideas, but they are more interested in the ability to execute. Entrepreneurs that successfully bootstrap their company have already demonstrated their ability to execute. If they can turn profit on a minimal budget, just think of what can be done with proper funding.
