HTML Secrets: HTML can do whaaaat?!

Details
Everyone and their cat knows HTML. Sure, we all struggle deciding what’s the most semantic element for each case, but when it comes to functionality, there’s nothing more to learn. Right? Wrong. No matter how well you think you know HTML, this talk will prove to you that there’s still more to explore. Also that you probably use too much Javascript for things that don’t need it anymore. Prepare to be surprised at how many elements, attributes, even entire HTML-based technologies exist that you’ve never learned, and how they could be useful in your projects, today.
A bit about our presenter:
Lea Verou (@leaverou (https://twitter.com/leaverou)) is currently busy doing research in Human-Computer Interaction at MIT CSAIL (http://csail.mit.edu). She has previously written a bestselling CSS book for O’Reilly (CSS Secrets (http://shop.oreilly.com/product/0636920031123.do)) and worked as a Developer Advocate at W3C (http://w3.org). She has a long-standing passion for open web standards, and is one of the few Invited Experts in the CSS Working Group (http://www.w3.org/Style/CSS/members.en.php3). Lea has also started several popular open source projects and web applications (http://github.com/leaverou), such as Prism (http://prismjs.com), Dabblet (http://dabblet.com) and -prefix-free (http://leaverou.github.io/prefixfree/) and maintains a technical blog at http://lea.verou.me . Despite her academic pursuits in Computer Science, Lea is one of the few misfits who love code and design equally.
General details:
Doors open at 6:30pm for food and drinks, which will be provided by Vermonster. The talk will start at 7pm. Unfortunately, while Vermonster’s old brick building has a lot of charm, it does not have an elevator. We wish that weren't the case.
