Monthly Clojure Meetup

Boston Clojure Group Meetups are held at Akamai in the conference rooms on the second floor (200C/D).

Please join us for a night of Clojure related discussion and group activities.

Meet & Greet starts at 6:00. Group activities will begin at 6:30.

Future meeting ideas will be discussed over the meetup board and in our Google discussion group:  https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/boston-clojure .

Agenda for this meeting:

This will be a hands-on coding session. We will select some interesting 4Clojure problems (problem suggestion? https://groups.google...) for you to form 2-3 person groups to work on them. We¹ll then share our solutions with each other and provide feedback to each other's work as a group. We'll then take a look at what some of the 4Clojure all-stars have come up with and discuss them as well.

Most of us that have done enough of these problems have had the experience of grinding out something that works, only to be completely schooled by an ingenious and amazingly elegant solution by someone else. This is a great way to hone your Clojure-fu!

We hope you can join us!  See you soon!

Thanks for the meetup, and nice meeting you all. I had a lot of fun.

I'm working on the problems I didn't get right. Here's my solution for p77, for example:

    p77:

    (defn __ [v]
    (let [add-to-anagram-map (fn [accumap s]
    (let [key (sort s)]
    (if (contains? accumap key)
(assoc accumap key (cons s (get accumap key)))
    (assoc accumap key (list s)))))]
    (set (filter #(> (count %) 1) (map set (vals (reduce add-to-anagram-map {} v)))))))

    Fun, fun!

Is this the cheat sheet you or Paul were mentioning?

That's the one. There's also http://clojuredocs.or... which is similar. http://learn-clojure.... and http://www.clojure-to... are also useful for finding things.

Great seeing some long timers and a lot of newer members too - all engaged with our 4clojure night. I hope you found it enjoyable! We'll mix it up, and try different activities. Please share your ideas and we'll add them to the list. This is your group too - so let us know what you like to do best! There's a list of ideas here: https://github.com/boston-clojure/upcoming-meetup-ideas and you can discuss them here: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/boston-clojure . Don't be shy :)

Thank you so much for organizing. I'm a one-week old newbie in the Clojure world, but it was a lot of fun, and I learned a lot. I was also happy to see so many emacs users in one room.

I hate to bow out late, but I'm not feeling well. Have fun, and I'll plan to join in next month.

Sorry to be missing this month. Looks like there's a fun evening planned. Enjoy, all!

I have selected several 4clojure problems for us to work on. An elementary practice problem, a few easy problems and a few medium problems. The hard ones could take too long I think. If you have a favorite, especially one with an ingenious or elegant solution, please consider sharing it with the group. We can include it in the solving sessions, or you can lead us in a discussion.

If you don't have a working Clojure development environment, that's OK. We'll team you up with someone who does!

Don't forget to join the google group https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/boston-clojure , and to tweet your plan to attend #bosclj . You may have followers who would be interested in attending as well.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.

Henry, started Reno Motorcycle Riders
