Your Help Needed. Together We Stay Strong - Boston Marathon Incident

Sent on: Tuesday, April 16, 2013 9:41 PM

To all members,

I hope that you and all your loved ones are safe and unaffected from yesterday's Marathon events. There's not much that can be said to alleviate this suffering, I'm afraid. Just know that there are many international voices offering prayers for our friends and families.

Today and in the coming days, it may be easiest to hide inside, however an email just came through calling us to action. As you know, with injuries of this severity, blood reserves will be stressed. Boston Children's writes:

"The hospital's Incident Command Center has been activated while we deal with the aftermath of today's explosions, and will continue to provide updates as needed. Over the coming days and weeks, as more information is brought to light, one of the hardest things to do will be to talk about what has happened with your children. We recommend the following blog, which contains tips for parents from a number of sources, including Dr. Claire McCarthy, our own website and the American Academy of Pediatrics:

Due to the influx of patients to Boston Children's—and to most of Boston's hospitals—we will need the help of donors like you to maintain our blood supply. To schedule an appointment to donate blood or platelets, please call [masked], or visit"

As of now, blood is still something that cannot be manufactured, therefore many of our other hospitals will also require our assistance with the blood supply. Below please find a list of hospitals and their websites for booking appointments. You can also contact any other hospitals near by you.

Mass General Hospital:

Tufts Medical Center:

Mount Auburn Hospital:

You can also call: 1-800-GIVE-LIFE to find a location near  you (American Red Cross)

Be Safe and Well.

(Thanks to CJ for composing the above mail. She is one of the members from this group and also an Organizer for other meetup who is always up for Social activities for good cause)
