I will have an 8 week old male miniature goldendoodle named Doctor on August third!
Beacon Hill, Boston Common, Great Brooks State Park, Castle Island... everywhere!
I will be training my puppy to be a therapy assistance dog to assist me in my family therapy practice. I'm a family therapist for children with serious emotional disturbances or developmental delay, and the addition of a therapy dog will enhance what I can offer so much! I’ve helped hundreds of Bostonians learn how to guide their dogs to good behavior in a gentle and effective way using the proven principles of operant conditioning. Gentle dog training utilizes positive reinforcement and negative punishment training techniques to modify behaviors. I stress the importance of socialization and how to ensure that the dog is raised with good manners in public and at home. I will be training my puppy to be a therapy assistance dog using the principles established by Assistance Dogs International.
I'm hosting a Free Puppy Class for dogs eight months or younger starting Sunday, August 12th, at 11:00 am and Wednesday, August 15th, at 7:30 pm. The class will be at the Phillips street play area upper area of Beacon Hill in Boston, and our rainy day location is at Dakota Puffin, which I hope you have visited, on Charles street. I have six years experience training dogs, and before that I worked with exotic animals in a private zoo! I use gentle, evidence-based techniques to teach puppy guardians behavior modification and socialization. Please send me a message if you're interested and I'll gladly answer any questions or enroll you! Here's a link to more info: http://patch.com/E-nr8n
Hi everyone, I'm new to this group, and it's nice to meet all of you! I've been a dog trainer for the past 6 years and have worked with dogs and their owners everywhere from animal shelters to the homes of Back Bay and Beacon Hill. Nice to meet you!
