NoSQL is the New Normal with Matt Asay

As enterprises become more data-driven, NoSQL is increasingly the "new normal" for data infrastructure. 10gen vice president Matt Asay will discuss the shift from RDBMS to NoSQL and why so many enterprises are adopting NoSQL technologies to get control of Big Data.

About Matt: Matt Asay is the VP of Corporate Strategy at 10gen (the MongoDB company).  Before 10gen, Matt was Vice President of Business Development at Nodeable (acquired by Appcelerator), a provider of real-time data stream processing for big data applications, and also at Strobe (acquired by Facebook). He was Chief Operating Officer at Canonical, ran the Americas for Alfresco and founded the Open Source Business Conference. Matt writes regular column for ReadWrite and The Register. He has a B.A. from Brigham Young University in English and Political Science, an M.A. from the University of Kent and a J.D. from Stanford University.

Directions

Rakuten's office is in the South Station building. Facing the main entrance to South Station, head to the left side of the building. Enter the building on the side lobby underneath the number "2" sign hanging over the entrance. If there isn't someone to greet you and let you in at the door, dial the 5-digit code "52923" on the keypad to call reception. Take either elevator to the 4th floor.

We will try to put up signs and keep someone posted at the entrance to make things easier.

Great Q&A. I like the location at Rakuten Loyalty Boston. Very easy to get to on the Red Line from my office in Kendall Square.

Presentation was excellent. It put several points/themes into perspective for me, particularly the market aspect of it. Learned a lot.
