Our money?  Our child? .... Our decision!

This meetup brings various people together to reclaim the right of parents to decide which school their child should attend. We awaken parents that it is their responsibility to guide their child's education  -- no other adult in the system understands their unique child better, or is more invested in their specific child's future.  This responsibility cannot be safely handed off to any other adult.

We empower parents by educating them about the entire range of schooling options.  We encourage them to make the schooling decisions for their own child.

In conjunction, our sister organization, Massachusetts Teachers Provide, encourages, supports, and empowers education entrepreneurs to create, to profit from, and to replicate new types of schools that may better match a parent's needs for her child.

We believe that parents, who are ultimately paying for the school and who have the deepest interest in their child succeeding, are the proper guides for their own child's education -- not the myriad other adults currently fighting over and profiting from our children’s schooling.  And parents would be much more wise directing education dollars to "good" and "bad" schools as they pertain to their particular child.

This group meets to watch and discuss education movies, web videos, and lectures, to read and discuss education books, articles, and research, to attend and present at conferences and seminars, and to discuss the impact on parents and children of various political and private initiatives.

I hope that we also become a working group -- to create conferences, presentations, YouTube videos, op-eds, letters to the editor, web articles, blogs, etc. that describe the problems with current one-size-fits-few educational system from the perspective of parents who want the best education for their unique children, and to expand the public's imagination of what types of great schooling alternatives might be possible in the future if parents were allowed to decide and educators were allowed to innovate.
