New VR Hardware and Demos

Come join us for an evening of demos and play, and bring all your toys, because we are looking for variety. We will have hardware like hand-trackers, a low-end corner cave, 3D scanners, and more. We also welcome the new games produced in the last hackathon, favorite demos and games produced elsewhere, and your favorite VR work, as always. If you are just interested and want to see stuff, please come on by and play too.

Fantastic showing everyone, our most diverse set of exhibitions yet. Huge thanks to everyone who brought hardware(especially the heavy stuff!), and double thanks to everyone who helped clean up!

What is the parking situation over there? Have a lot of hardware to bring...

    July 22

    • Jim Susinno

There's a good amount of free street parking on the same block as hack/reduce. The meters on Third street are free after 6 and there are lots of spots just north on Bent street.

Parking in that area of cambridge can be a real mixed bag and especially before 6 pm. There's meters & 2 hour spots free after 6 pm, but also a lot resident parking that requires a sticker or you get a ticket, and also quite a bit of "police only" a few blocks away that results in a tow. Be careful to read the signs. Jim's right -- Bent usually has spots up to a point. It's the only one I know that doesn't have any signs (I think someone might have stolen them :-) There's also the garages -- the one at One Kendall by the cinema will cost you between $10-$20 while the Galeria is a bit further away but only costs $5 or less.

Hello everyone! Glad to have this excellent response. If you *did* RSVP, and you know you can't make it, please let us know right away or just cancel on the website. Also, if you thought you reserved a slot for a guest who can't make it. See you there!!

It looks like people want to come, but the event is at maximum attendance. I will give up my seat, so someone else can attend. I attended the last event, so I know it will be an event that you don't want to miss-especially if you are a newcomer.

Can't wait to try oculus for the first time. Will you guys have DK2's though? I know shipping has slowed and you would have had to order in the first 24 hours.....

    July 2

    • Jeff Bail

I ordered mine within an hour or two; I'm hopeful I might have it before the meetup. If it does come in I might be looking for a volunteer to bring in a rig powerful enough to drive it because I don't think my laptop is up to it.

    • Brian

I will be bringing my rig to demo new VR workstation with 2 degree motive freedom (yaw & forward/back) which should handle DK2. In addition, it has attachments for multiple peripherals such as new DK2 camera and razer hydra (which im also bringing).

Hey all! Just spreading the word about the store I'm opening soon. It'll be a VR & PC gaming cafe, with 20+ VR stations. VR Tech used will be Oculus Rift DK2, gloves, guns, etc and eventually the OMNI treadmill (they don't ship till Dec).

See you all at the meetup!
