BSO - Beethoven's Missa Solemnis
Hosted by Boston Classical Meetup
Details
This Beethoven program sounds amazing!
Join in if you want, get your own ticket (or email me to coordinate sitting in the same section--probably in Orch somewhere), and let's try to meet during intermission to say hi.
This will not be a very social meetup--sorry, it's still a "school" night! But I'd be open to having a quick dinner around 6:45/7pm.
Note: I can only go on Thursday, but if you can go on Friday it's designated as the UnderScore Friday, concert at 7pm with a post-concert organ recital and reception!

BEETHOVEN - Missa Solemnis Kurt Masur, conductor Christine Brewer, soprano Michelle DeYoung, mezzo-soprano Eric Owens, bass Beethoven's Missa Solemnis is one of the most significant works by one of the greatest of all composers. This monolithic late work stands with the Ninth Symphony, the late string quartets, and the late piano sonatas as the culmination of Beethoven's transformation of music. Beethoven intended the Missa Solemnis celebration of the election of his patron Archduke Rudolph as Archbishop of Olmütz in 1820, but didn't complete it until 1822.
German maestro Kurt Masur conducts, with the Tanglewood Festival Chorus and a fine cast of soloists, including the New Zealand tenor Simon O'Neill in his BSO debut.
