Opera Boston's Final Performance - MOZART - Free with First Night Button
Details
As you've probably heard by now, Opera Boston is closing its doors. They're the second largest opera company in Boston as well as one of its most daring classical institutions, frequently putting on lesser known works as well as commissioning one of their own. A quick look at their repertory history (http://tinyurl.com/OperaBostonHistory (http://operaboston.org/operas_history.php)) will show you what I mean. This is a HUGE loss for the Boston classical scene.
They have one more performance (Mozart's "Bastien und Bastienne" at Emmanuel Church) as part of Boston's First Night, and as a show of appreciation I decided to change up my NYE plans and attend this brief opera instead. I figure most people have their night planned already but hopefully some of you can fit this in. It's a semi-staged performance of Mozart's "Bastien und Bastienne" and will be sung in English. The performance time listed is 10:30pm to 11:15pm - very short.
Right now, this is mostly to let people know, but if people are interested I'd love to meetup beforehand or (briefly) afterwards. I've got to make it back to my area for a friend's party by around 1am, so a pre-concert meetup would work best for me. I'll be outside by the front steps with a small meetup sign at 10pm until 10:15 if you'd like to sit together. If anyone is interested, I'll arrange a bigger meetup before the concert at a nearby restaurant. Suggestions are appreciated! :)
The details on this performance are few: if there's something I should add or be aware of, please let me know! This is it for info that I've found: http://tinyurl.com/Fi... (http://tinyurl.com/FirstNightOperaBoston)
A First Night button is required for this event. There are many locations you can purchase one: http://www.firstnight.org/button/
