Android Deconstructed

Come take a peek under the hood of the Android operating system, and see the components that hold the system together.  We will be walking through the Android stack, from the kernel, up through the native code, into the frameworks and applications.  We will explore how and why Android uses the Linux kernel, the Dalvik VM, patterns in system services, and the boot process of a typical device.  We will also take a brief look at the Android source code, and the locations of common components.

Dave Smith is a Senior Android Developer at Double Encore, Inc., a Denver-based consulting company focused on mobile development.  Dave is an expert in developing mobile applications that integrate with custom hardware and devices. His recent focus lies mainly in integrating the Android platform with embedded hardware. He is the author of Android Recipes from Apress, and speaks regularly at conferences on topics related to Android development.

Food and drink will be provided by Fahrenheit IT (fahrenheitit.com).
