Smart Phone Use at Game Nights

I wrote a post about this on the discussion board, but that hardly sees any use. I apologize to the people who see this twice. I would prefer responses be written there.

It is out of control. I've committed the act myself, but I'm really starting to feel it is disrespectful to your fellow gamers to be texting / on the internet / surfing Facebook while playing a game with them. We're sitting here in person to share the experience with one another. If you want to be with someone else, perhaps you should not be playing the game.

This is what I am considering implementing next time I host a game night: If you want to use your phone, you go outside. If you have something that MUST be resolved in a timely manner, I suggest calling that person. Otherwise, the communication can surely wait.

If you break this rule, I'll give one warning before I will ask you to please leave. This will ruin the game for everyone involved. We don't want that to happen.

I honestly can't come up with any better way of enforcing this, or reducing cell phone usage, so if you've got one, please share.
