Hello All You Boulder Board Games Galore Member Gamers! I thought it about time to give some kind of 'State of the Group' report, so here's what I've got. I started Boulder Board Games Galore Oct. 29, 2010. I hosted the first event on Nov. 7, 2010. After about 1 year and 10 months: We now have 302 members! We've had 153 meetup events! We have several regular event hosts! I am very happy with the success of our group. My desire was to find local people to play with, and to have a group that fostered friendships and community building while gaming. Having potlucks at most events has been a rich contribution to that as well. I have made friends with some incredible people, and have gamed to my heart's desire on countless occasions. I must also note that about half of our membership is inactive. While there is certainly nothing wrong with that, I would like to invite everyone to participate at events! I think all the hosts put a lot of effort into making new people feel welcome, so don't be discouraged if you don't know anyone, or are unfamiliar with the games you hear getting mentioned. We love meeting new folk! And we always teach games, and are learning new games, etc.... Financial Report: Total Expenses:     $333.00 Total Donations:    $123.76 Balance:               -$209.24 Link: I've laid out $333 over the last couple years to I'm happy to do it. Since I've spent sooooooo much more than that on the 600 games I own, I find it cheap to spend just a little more to have a bunch of people to play with. That being said, I don't mind sharing the expense either. This group will remain a free group. Within that, you are also free to contribute. There is a link on the website on the left side that says "Donations for Operations". Contribute if you like. $10 or $20 for a year of great gaming can be quite a bargain. I can also take cash, and it always gets recorded on the site. If we ever get a surplus, we'll find something fun for the group to do with it. Or, consider hosting some events. Hosting is also a fantastic way to contribute (maybe better?). Anybody can host!! This group is set up so that anybody can suggest an event on the main page. Once 3 'yes' rsvp's are received it goes onto the main events page. This has been done many times and is very easy. It is so great to have people in your home! Or, come up with something creative! Go spelunking in a cave and play Saboteur! Whatever. Even a tiny floor space is good enough for some folk. You can set the limit of attendees, and specify any particular conditions at your location....  and, if you host a few events and it works for everyone, you can be a regular 'event organizer' for BBGG! Ideas, concerns, feedback, praise... is all welcome. You can write me directly, or start a discussion in the bulletin board section. What works for you? What doesn't? What would you like to see more of? Less of? We're co-creating all this together, so throw in your two cents! We're always looking a new fun things to do... might have some more things coming soon, so stay tuned! On a more personal note, I've been hosting and attending very little the last couple months. Mostly, it's because of being very busy at work. Partly, it's because I'm giving energy to balancing my life, and to some other important interests of mine. By November, if not sooner, I expect to be back on a lighter schedule and be hosting and attending more events once again! Meanwhile, it's so awesome to have so many great hosts and members - and to know the gaming adventure will continue in times where I am called to be elsewhere.... you are all awesome! Lastly, I'm hosting an Open Stage next Monday, Sept. 3rd at the Integral Center from 7pm-10pm, and I'll be performing as well. It's a free event and you all are invited, if you're up for a non-board game event. :-)  Details here: Cheers, Bansi
