For intermediate/advanced players.

Come join us in a relaxed environment to play some cello rock ensemble music!

These arrangements are not for a mixed level ensemble (like our normal play-ins) and is on the "more difficult" side.

This playin may explore cello technique, musicality, music theory and ensemble playing using cello ensemble arrangements of rock and popular music!

Limited space available!

Some music will be passed out as they cannot be posted online. However, if you would like to take home the music to practice, we will require a $15 deposit which will be returned when you return the music. You must pick up or arrange for mailing.

We will be playing strictly non-classical cello music.

2) Somebody I Used to Know (Gotye) => with updated printed parts!

Hi Gemma, two of the pieces I donated I purchased from Mona Lisa Sound - Hampton String Quartet. Their only requirement, as stated on their music packaging, is that they be given written or verbal credit for having made the arrangements whenever their music is performed in public. I purchased "Nights In White Satin" from Cacophonix.com and discussed this with the company. The owner told me that since I purchased the music I may make copies and perform the music. The only thing that a purchaser may not do is turn around and sell the arrangement to someone else. If we do a concert of this music, we can mention the arranger on the program as a courtesy. Thanks!

I wonder if the license only applies when performers charge ticket prices? I envisioned that our cello project concert would be free to the public? Just a thought. Thanks!

We should get together and chat to organize the mini-concerts! :) I know you have a lot of experience in setting these up and I'm more than happy to defer to your expertise - makes my job easier! ;)

Thanks for the great rock band session this weekend! I really enjoyed playing the piece that Vicki brought in and being able to repeat some of our songs from last time for some reinforcement. I feel some of the sight reading is helping me to become a better player. Thank you to Psyche for being a very patient moderator and being as thorough as possible with some of the more difficult spots in the songs as well. As always thanks to Bill and Gemma for their continued organization, and Abram for lining up the massages!

Thanks for the fun and great coaching by Psyche. After mastering all the Rock pieces we want to learn, I hope we can perform a public recital somewhere/sometime. Thanks for playing "White Shade of Pale" as our last piece or the day.

Thanks for bringing the music Vicki, everyone seemed to enjoy it! I like your idea of a public performance with some of this fun contemporary stuff, I wonder if that's feasible with all of the copyright rules that Gemma has to work with?

Hi Vicki, I second that!! Thank you for bringing the music - they're all very lovely and I can't wait for the group to play them. Yes, great idea on the public performance! We have some concerts planned later this year, but we may be able to squeeze something in at the farmer's market or something during the summer? Since it'll be geared towards mostly advanced cellists, you guys won't need as many rehearsals! ;) I'll double check with the copyright stuff too.

I forgot to thank Abram for arranging for massages post-Meetup; that seemed like a big hit for everyone able to stay!

I'm glad it worked out, hopefully we can partner with Helen and Healing Spirits again! Or we could start hitting up the other schools too... :-)
