Don’t miss this month’s meeting: “Brush with Greatness: Robert Maxfield On Set”
Have you ever worked on the sets of a A-list Hollywood blockbusters? Have you ever been a full-time crew member on a mega hit TV show? Well, Robert Maxfield has and he’s gonna speak at this month’s Boulder Filmmaking Incubator meeting.
Robert will give an up front and personal story of working in the big leagues of filmmaking. He has nothing but nice things to say about J.J. Abrams and he can tell you how his team managed to get a mic wire down a hunky star’s all too tight jeans.
Robert will intersperse his on-set anecdotes along with a comprehensive tutorial on getting good audio on set. He was on the sound team that was Oscar Nominated for “Best Sound in a Motion Picture” for Twister. His most recent sound work includes the hit Cable TV series ‘The Walking Dead’. Just for us, he’ll demonstrate professional audio techniques and give away tips of the trade.

Over the last 35 years he has written screenplays, directed and produced dozens of videos, acted in numerous commercials, recorded hundreds of voiceovers, and recorded dialog for over a hundred commercials, TV series, and feature films.

Owner and entrepreneur of the newly released “The Body Archer”, Robert Wald has described him as quote, “…a rare commodity in this age of intellectual copycats. He offers a delightful and original cocktail of talents to every table he graces…an endless stream of ideas, really good ones, and the enviable ability to share them so passionately with all who hunger for great success in business…and in life.”

Richard was great. He has so much knowledge about sound that there was no way I could absorb it all. If nothing else, it confirmed why making movies is a team effort with everyone contributing their own, unique talents.

I am bummed I had to bail out on this. Was really looking forward to seeing everyone and hearing Maxfield talk. But I started feeling sick this afternoon and I don't want to push it. Oh well, I hope to make it next month.
