Building the Real-time web with SignalR

with Ely Lucas

SignalR is an officially supported open source library from the ASP.Net team that makes it ridiculously easy to build real-time web apps.  Technologies such as web sockets are opening doors to new and exciting opportunities for web applications.  SignalR gives ASP.Net developers the ability to program apps that work with and without web sockets, but still support older browsers.  Its like magic in a Nuget package.

Ely Lucas is a web and mobile developer that works at Aspenware and helps clients create amazing software.  He is a Microsoft MVP in ASP.Net and is active in the local developer community.  Follow him on the Twitters @elylucas or the Blogs at

Service Stack

with Craig Young

ServiceStack is an Opensource .NET and Mono REST Web Services framework. Coined as “Thoughtfully architected, obscenely fast, thoroughly enjoyable web services for all.” Ever get sick of WCF, MVC, or WebAPI because of method or configuration bloat? Do you really just want your services to be DRY and use simple DTO as defined by Martin Fowler? Or perhaps you just got a wicked “Need for Speed”? If so, come learn about ServiceStack.

Craig Young is one of those developers that loves creating technology for the same reason athletes love to play sports. It's that adrenaline shot you get when you've done something challenging and you see the reward of your efforts. He enjoys current gadgets and dreams about future gadgets. You can follow him on twitter @CraigHead.

Both topics were great. Very useful tools that I hope to implement soon.

I think these two talks are really going to be a great combination of "wine and food". I personally can't wait to show everyone all this fun stuff with ServiceStack and additionally think about how I can pair this with what Jerry is going to talk about. @Raj, I'd love to but I'll need the group organizer to send me an email with possible dates.
