The Twin Lakes owls are back, and so am I! It's been awhile since I've led a meetup- it's been quite a winter for me! I'm really excited to see old faces and meet some of you new members!
The owls are back for a 5th year of nesting in the same location! The babies are brand new little guys now!
Come out and see the great horned owl family as they just begin to raise their young for the year. These owlets will be in their nest for only a couple of months, and then they will hang out in the area until at least October. The parents are permanent residents and I often hear them calling at night right outside our door!
Let's go see the owls! The babies aren't visible yet but we will likely hear them begging for food. But, you will likely get amazing views of the parents! So bring binoculars, fancy camera lenses, and whatever you can! You'll probably get professional quality shots of the owls, depending on your photography skills! :)
We will walk beside the Twin Lakes and will see many other bird species as well!
The photo above is of the babies from 3 seasons ago- they aren't nearly this big yet!!
I'm going to have several meetups throughout the spring to watch the babies grow up, so even if you can't make it this time you'll get a chance soon!!
There is no charge for the meetup, but a donation of $5-10 would be welcome!
Please remember to change your RSVP if you are unable to make it, so I knew who to expect!
