Software Testing Tools - Let's Share What We Know!

It's important to have testing skills and knowledge, but there is are also a lot of testing tools out there (many free) to help you in your testing. We're going to spend this meeting talking about testing tools, get tips on what each other are using, give you a chance to ask questions, and hopefully walk away with a few new tools you can start using right away!

One of our members, David Gladfelter, a Software Engineer in Test at Google, will start the discussion off by sharing with us some of the testing tools he uses at Google.

Please be thinking of 1-2 tools you use, want to know about, or any questions you have regarding testing tools. During our meet/greet/dinner at 6:00, you can write them down on stickies and then put them on one of the walls, which we will then use for the discussion. We'll get to as many as we can during the meeting.

I would think that you would want to have the requirements described as thoroughly as possible.

But what if there are no formal, detailed requirements? :-) Ahh...yet another wonderful topic for our Meetup!

There are always formal, detailed requirements, aren't there? ;^) (And yes, a wonderful topic!)

Great session on Software Tools. I am so excited about the knowledge that is right here in Boulder. I picked up a lot of great ideas that are sprouting in my head right now. Looking forward to more sessions like this!

    Hi Cathy,

Thanks for your question. In my experience it's been more of a group effort between the developers and testers. And I've also been in the position as the lone tester to drive the usability as much as I could. What's been your experience?

I have found that it usually goes south for testing, whereas we become the gate keepers as well as production support. I'm trying now to formulate a plan where we can get the conversation going without becoming the process owners.

I would like to ask the group a question. How would your team drive software development for the usability without the presence of a BA/SA or PM role?

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
